OpenMW, an open source implementation of The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind game engine and functionality that is still under development, has just been upgraded to version 0.35.0 and is now ready for download.

OpenMorrowind is a very ambitious project that aims to greatly improve upon the engine and gameplay of the original The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, and to provide a working engine and toolkit for anyone who wants to build another title entirely. It will take some time to finish, but the good news is that most of the features have been implemented already and now the developers are working on fixes and various tweaks.

The devs are saying that 1.0 is now much closer, but there is still no end in sight for the project. On the other hand, it seems to make good progress and each new update launched for it is a consistent one. The new versions are also arriving at a brisk pace, which is a very good sign for the game.

OpenMW 0.35.0 is out, what's new?

"The OpenMW team is proud to announce the release of version 0.35.0! Grab it from our Downloads Page for all operating systems. This release includes over 100 bug fixes and improvements, and brings our “1.0” release much closer. Some notable features include the beginnings of an ess-Importer command line tool to import save games from vanilla Morrowind, proper handling of the Calm effect, and AI fast-forward functionality," is noted on the official website.

A complete list of changes and new features can be found in the official announcement. Users must legally own and install the game before they can use OpenMW - as it is intended - to play Morrowind. You can download OpenMW 0.35.0 right now from Softpedia.

Keep in mind that this is not a stable version and bugs might still appear.
