14 DAY TRIAL // The OnePlus One Ubuntu Touch port is doing great, and a lot of work is being put into it. In fact, it looks like this platform will soon support MultiROM Manager, a powerful application that allows users to install easily the operating system from Canonical.
Ubuntu Touch fans know about the MultiROM Manager, the Android app that lets users install and dual-boot Ubuntu Touch and Android on the same device. It works flawlessly on Nexus 4, but it's nice to see it in action on other phones as well.
The fact that it needs work is actually tied to another issue. It needs a modified kernel and that's harder to implement than people might think, not to mention that users have to install TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project), which is a recovery image for Android devices. The good news is that TWRP already works for OnePlus One, which means that the developer can focus on other issues.
The OnePlus One Ubuntu Touch is a community project, not an official one. It takes a while for the devs to get around some of the most serious issues. At this point, they still need to get the GSM module going, but that shouldn't be too far away.
