A new version of the popular Calibre open-source and cross-platform ebook library management application was released a few minutes ago by Kovid Goyal for Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Calibre 2.31.0 is here to add a new feature in the E-book viewer, namely a configurable search engine that can be used for searching selected text in ebooks. It has been implemented in the Miscellaneous section of the E-book viewer's preferences dialogue.

Among the bugs fixed in Calibre 2.31.0, we can mention an issue with dragging selected text with your mouse that caused the page to slide sideways when viewed in paged mode, but only when the mouse cursor left the text area.

Transitioning between normal mode and full-screen mode now works correctly, preserving its position, the incorrect text encoding is now being ignored for the AZW3 input, and the CDP and Legimi store plugins have been updated for website changes in the Get Books component.

Moreover, Cybook Nolimbook is now correctly detected on both GNU/Linux and Mac OS X operating systems, internal hyperlinks that point to an HTML file with an id in the < body > element are no longer ignored for the DOCX output, and errors are now prevented when testing the email sending functionality.

New news sources have been added and old ones updated

In addition to the changes mentioned above, Calibre 2.31.0 also fixes issues with the font subsetting related to Arabic fonts, addresses some problems with groups in the Edit Book component, and plugs a bug in the searching functionality.

Last but not least, several Ukranian news sources have been added, and the Sydney Morning Herald, Baltimore Sun, and El Mercurio Chile news sources have been improved. Download Calibre 2.31.0 for Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows right now from Softpedia.
