Laptop Mode Tools is a power-saving package for Linux systems, which lets users increase the life expectancy of a laptop's battery. A new version has been released and is now available for download.

Laptop Mode Tools doesn't get too many updates, but from the looks of it, there is no need. The application still works even after numerous kernel updates, and the developers only implement small stuff with each new update. It's quite possible that we'll see a resurgence in the new releases for this important tool.

"This release has many important bug fixes, and everyone is recommended to upgrade. Of the many, one important fix is to, more reliably check for Device Mapper based devices, which is common these days with Crypt and LVM," said the devs.

According to the changelog, a minimum window size has been implemented to accommodate low resolution screens, the variable name has been fixed in order to comply with "constants" assumptions, the power saving for Intel HD Audio now works better, Account Device Mapper devices are now available, swsusp freeze support has been added, and the Switch battery-level-polling default function is now True by default.

Users must not change the autonegotiation settings. Fiddling with auto-negotiation settings can cause more problems, and the standards expect them to be always on. You can download Laptop Mode Tools 1.67 right now from Softpedia or you can check the official repositories for the latest package.
