On July 23, Clement Lefebvre, leader of the popular Linux Mint computer operating system, sent in his monthly report on the work done by the Linux Mint developers in the month of July 2015.

According to Mr. Lefebvre, the Linux Mint developers did a lot of work on testing and fixing the last remaining bugs for all the Linux Mint 17.2 (Rafaela) releases, especially the Cinnamon and MATE editions, but also for the upcoming KDE and Xfce flavors, which are currently in the RC (Release Candidate) development stage.

It would appear that the entire Linux Mint team is very pleased with how the Linux Mint 17.2 (Rafaela) release was received by the community. In the same report, users are being informed that the no-codecs and OEM installation DVDs for Linux Mint 17.2 will be released in the coming days.

"July was all about the releases, a lot of testing and bug fixing," says Clement Lefebvre. "The Cinnamon and MATE editions of Linux Mint 17.2 were released and users of these editions were able to upgrade from Linux Mint 17 and 17.1. Everything went well and the reception was very good. It was a real pleasure for us to see you discover the improvements we worked on in the last 6 months."

Linux Mint devs have lots of ideas for the next major release

Clement Lefebvre also noted at the end of the report that starting with August 2015, the Linux Mint developers will be hard at work preparing the next major release of the Linux Mint distribution, and they have a lot of exciting ideas for it, as plenty of resources and time to get ambitious and implement awesome new features.

In related news, we reported earlier that users of the KDE and Xfce editions of the Linux Mint 17 (Qiana) and Linux Mint 17.1 (Rebecca) distributions can now upgrade to the Linux Mint 17.2 (Rafaela) operating system, despite the fact that both flavors are currently in development.
