The Linux Foundation announced the recipients of its annual Linux Training Scholarship Program, which allows a number of people from around the world to get access to free training.

The Linux Foundation gives these scholarships every year, and it seems that an ever increasing number of people get accepted. The foundation is also known for having a series of online courses that are recognized worldwide and help users get some very useful Linux skills. They have recently expanded the support for their course for Spanish speakers, and they have plans to cover other major languages as well.

This training program has entered its fifth year and covers a number of categories, totaling 34 scholarships that are awarded every year. They cover $100,000 in free training. This will definitely have an impact on the lives of the people who are about to become Linux-fluent in the domain of their choice.

The scholarships are awarded to people across the world

The Linux Foundation doesn't focus just on certain areas of the planet, and they aim to cover pretty much everyone. As long as you speak and read English, you should be just fine. And, even if you didn't get in this year, you can always try again.

"More than 850 entries were received this year across seven categories. The most popular submission category was again SysAdmin Super Star, demonstrating the lucrative career opportunities professionals know are available in this an area with the proper training and certifications. This category was followed in popularity by Linux Newbies and Whiz Kids. Submissions were received from six continents, and applicants averaged 29 years of age, showing the prevalence of interest in Linux from across generations and geographies," reads the official announcement.

Here are the winners of this year's Linux Training Scholarship Program: Yashdeep Saini, Toby Jee, Kiran Padwal, Vaishali Thakkar, Kevin Barry, Junko Ueda, Erich Noriega, Enrique Sevillano, Eduardo Mayorga Téllez, RJ Murdok, Anthony Hooper, Kyri'ay Vanderpoel, Nancy Iris Quiroga, and Eva Tanaskoska.

The Linux Foundation scholarships provide Linux training to developers and IT professionals who show interest in the platform and promise to become more active and knowledgeable about Linux and open source development but cannot otherwise afford to attend a Linux Foundation training course. Each scholarship recipient will have the fees of one training course and one Linux Foundation certification exam covered.
