We've seen them all, Ubuntu running on virtually anything, Ubuntu powering all sorts of devices, from mobile phones to embedded and industrial PCs. Today, we want to show you Ubuntu MATE 15.04 running on Banana Pi BPI-M1.

While its name might sound weird for some of you out there, and for some of you who don't know what it is, Banana Pi BPI-M1 is an SBC (Single-Board Computer) designed in the style of Raspberry Pi, powered by an A20 ARM Cortex A7 Dual-Core processor running at 1Ghz, an ARM Mali400 MP2 graphics processing unit, and 1GB DDR3 RAM.

In the video below, posted for your viewing pleasure by Project Banana Pi, you will see the current stable version of the Ubuntu MATE operating system running on the Banana Pi BPI-M1 device. Things like Mozilla Firefox web browser, LibreOffice office suite, Caja file manager, and video playback are demoed in the 4-minute-long video.

As you can see, everything runs quite smoothly, making the Banana Pi BPI-M1 computer board a portable PC powered by Ubuntu MATE 15.04 (Vivid Vervet). In the near future, we do hope to see more devices running Linux, but until then, enjoy the video below and don't forget to brag with your experience on testing Ubuntu/Linux on various devices in the commenting section at the end of the article.
