The Ubuntu Touch platform needs a lot of apps to attract more users, but it also needs games. There aren't a lot of complex, 3D titles available, and now TuxRacer is one of them.

Gaming is a big part of the mobile ecosystem, and Ubuntu developers and users know this very well. It might not seem the most obvious choice for game development, but Ubuntu Touch is perfectly capable of running all sorts of games. Titles like Cut the Rope have found their way onto the platform and many others are also available.

Some of the new Linux and Ubuntu users might not have heard of a little game called TuxRacer, which used to be included by default in some distros a decade ago. The game fell out of favor, and it was somewhat abandoned. Nothing has been done to the source code in ages, and it remained in the same state since then. A developer took the time to port the game on Ubuntu Touch, and it looks like it lives again.

The Ubuntu Touch ecosystem is getting bigger each day, and the store is not home to lots of new apps. It's nowhere near of what you can find on other mobile operating systems, but the platform has a dedicated core of developers and a very active community. Now the Ubuntu phones are landing all over the world, so it's very likely that the number of devs willing to port apps will increase as well.
