We have recently been informed that the Telegram app of Canonical's Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system will be updated to version 2.0 and based on the Telegram API created by Aseman, TelegramQML.

TelegramQML provides Telegram API (Application Programming Interface) tools for Qt QML and QML (Qt Meta Language), which are currently being used in Aseman's Cutegram open-source and cross-platform Telegram client for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems. TelegramQML is based on the libqtelegram library and Cutegram-Core.

According to Sturm Flut, an Ubuntu app developer, Telegram 2.0 should arrive for Ubuntu for phones in about three weeks from the moment of writing this article. Besides being based on TelegramQML, the application will include numerous other attractive new features, about which we'll know more soon. Until then, Ubuntu phone users will have to enjoy the new OTA-6 update that has been released today.

As a reminder, the Ubuntu Touch OTA-6 arrived earlier for Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition, Nexus 4, and Nexus 7 devices. It will be released next week for BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition and BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition devices. The update will be provided to users worldwide in phases during the next 24 hours. Check out the new features it brings in our in-depth article.

Thanks, Sturm Flut, for this great piece of news!
