The developer decided to release one more version in 2015

The Calibre eBook reader and editor has been upgraded today and it looks like this is the last release for this year. It's not a major update, but it does come with a very important feature.

The Calibre developer hasn't updated the application in a while and we didn't think that he was going to release a new update in 2015, but it seems that he was just working on an important new feature. It's something that's been requested a lot and it looks like it's finally here.

People wanted some kind of export function for all of their Calibre data. This is very useful when you want to move the application to a new computer or when you reinstall the operating system. If you had Calibre for a long time, you probably gathered plug-ins, made a lot of changes to the app, and you have the library just the way you want it. It would be a shame if that would be lost after a fresh installation.

Calibre finally gets an export tool

It's not enough to just safeguard the folder with all the eBook. Users need to prepare the rest of the application as well, and this is exactly what this new feature does.

"Right click the calibre icon in the main Calibre toolbar and choose 'Export/import all calibre data' to run this tool. It is useful if you want to move to a new computer or duplicate your calibre setup on a second computer, with minimal effort. This tool is very new, so if you run into problems, please report bugs. You can always use the old manual method of copying library folders as a fallback," the developer explained.

According to the changelog, the conversion of PDF documents that contain ASCII control codes has been fixed, the image compression has been refined, a regression that caused book titles in the Book Details panel to become clickable has been repaired, and a few news sources have been updated.
