We've covered the development cycle of the Fedora 24 Linux operating system ever since Fedora 23 was still in Beta, informing you guys about its upcoming features as we got our hands on them, but now the time has come to make a summary of them all.

We don't want to confuse our readers with unnecessary articles that give them only partial information about what's to come in Fedora 24, so this one should provide you with all the details you'll need to know about the upcoming Linux kernel-based operating system from Red Hat, for now.

Therefore, Fedora 24 will have some very interesting features, starting with new GNU/Linux technologies like the NetworkManager 1.2 network connection manager for GNOME, Xfce and LXDE spins, the Python 3.5 dynamic programming language, Ruby 2.3 programming language, as well as Node.js 4.2 server-side JavaScript environment.

Furthermore, Fedora 24 will ship with a layered Docker image build service for those who want to use distributed apps, GHC (Haskell) compiler and interactive environment will be updated to version 7.10, the Boost libraries will be uplifted to build 1.60, and Pungi, the tool to make Fedora Spins, will be completely revamped.

systemd improvements, Livemedia creator, more

We've kept the coolest features of Fedora 24 Linux for last, and they are the Livemedia Creator tool for making bootable Live CDs, DVDs and USB images, several systemd improvements, such as systemd file triggers and systemd package split, and TeXLive 2015. Additionally, system administrators should know that Fedora 24 Server drops support for the 32-bit (i686) architecture. Most probably, the distribution will ship with Linux kernel 4.4 LTS.

But that's not all, as Fedora 24 might also ship with a bunch of self-contained changes. Among them we can mention OpenShift Origin, LVM DBus API support in the Anaconda installer, Product Definition Center, GCC 6 support, a Docker CLI (command-line interface) called Sen, a default local DNS resolver, support for generating repositories of signed RPMs in Koji, and, of course, the latest desktop environments, including GNOME 3.20 with Wayland and KDE Plasma 5.6.

As for the release schedule of Fedora 24, we had already written an in-depth article back in October 2015, but we would like to inform you again that the Alpha build will be released on March 1, 2016, followed closely by the Beta release on April 12, 2016. The final release of the Fedora 24 Linux operating system is currently scheduled for May 17, 2016.
